"Bruno" the Movie! This Bruno is worthy to watch.

I stumbled upon Bruno Lucches sculpting demos on YouTube and became rather moist. I love his carefree, almost conductor hand and arm movements when he is applying clay to his sculptures. It's amazing to watch the transformation and you can see him searching for a likeness strike. The chicken wire as a hand-held tool is something I've never even considered to use outside of building a volcano.

Anyway, his material is worth the watch. I recommend it.

Life Drawing by Barrett--Good stuff!

This book is filled with some A+ rendering and insightful
lessons in drawing, seeing, making sense of collected shape.

Truly I am giddy with nutrients, and this book is sugar filled, for I am carb deficient right now craving some pudding.

Inspired to scribble, yessir.

Mars Attacks Gene Simmons!

I'm waiting for granny to yell out, "They killed Congress!"

Had an urge to draw one of the big brained "Nyah Nyah!" Martians from Mars Attacks

Somehow Gene Simmons made it into the deck too. I guess I'll eventually add Peter Criss, Ace Frehley & Star-Child namesake Paul Stanley into the sketchcard pile.

My list of finished cards continues to grow and obscure faces seem to be more common as I scrounge for reference. I found a shot of Charles Dickens and an authentic(?)Henri Toulouse Lautrec photograph taken from the late 1800's that should make for some interesting pieces of tiny art. This sketchcard exercise has encouraged the need to look for different models and I really have enjoyed the time spent on rendering them thus far.

Of course recognizable mugs like; Al Bundy, Oliver Wendall Douglas & Austin Powers are completed renderings and they will have supporting cast members joining them before I hit my magic number of 365.

Color illustrations are comfortably being worked on by day and these fun little cards by night-- when the trailer park is quiet. Peace in the valley. Stay tuned

New Wrestling art

Every once in a while it's fun to think about my old days of creating professional wrestling art.

Annnnnd now that I've thought about it, I'll go on to something else. :P

Indiana Jones and the Markers of Hughes, er, Hues.

Here's 1 of the few blunt marker renderings I did today.

I've always had a hankerin' to draw ole Indy but never have until today.

I wish I had of given myself the assignment of doodling tiny 2.5 x 3.5 inch images long ago.  This has been plain and simple fun.

Best part is that I'm drawing for myself.

Wow. How long has it been?

Oh for the love of...

"... ART crankin' out sub par I cried...
Keep the Wacom just gimme that marker wide..."

This card, was originally rendered in full color. But
for some reason the colors scanned terribly and I was forced to mute them.

I should just mute ALL of my stuff. :P

(It's late for me. zzzzz)

Meat and Two-veg.

Groovy fun markering, bay-bee!

Ouch-ka-bibble!

The 365

I got an itch the other day. The itch was to take my new set of Copic cool gray markers, (God bless you, Adam P. Hughes) and sit firmly at my drawing table, which is FAR AWAY from the crack-box I call a computer, and marker render 365 individual sketch-cards. And why? Why not. Around midnight, when it's quiet in Stanley Manor (aka, the Trailer) I can enjoy a hour or two for myself, each night, and get a little re-fresher in self-discipline.

Commit to abnormalcy. S'good.

Oh--about 300 to go.

The Kang of Muzac and the king of crap.

My blog is guaranteed the least interesting of any on the web, especially so for not posting any new art or indicating when new goods will arrive. Hopefully some new stuff will arrive--soon.

I don't know why I had Elvis on the mind.

Can someone tell me what kind of world we live in...?

Boom! Biff! ... Tad! Drawing Adam West as Batman is always good wholesome clean fun, Citizen. Here's a rendering I did a fews days before shoving off to TikiCon, sans Batmobile.

It is what it is. :P

Ironman--new illustration Part Deux

Ironman with traditional colors, part 2. Am I crazy for not wanting to go digital? (This is a one room insane asylum so, let me be. :)) Currently I am nitpicking the art and will have it up to show in it's completeness...soon. 'Scuze my A.D.D. but there's just too much going on right now and much seems to be vying for my attention.

Anyway, here's a quarter piece of Ironman.

(Is it just me or do uploaded images to Blogger seem to really fade out? My original jpeg has quite a bit more color intensity to it than what is seen here. Not that lame excuses will benefit my work, but I need every little bit of sum'un sum'un I can get to appear to look better. Help meeee!)

Be well,

Steve

A Christmas Carol

Chuck Jones art directed this animated short, "A Christmas Carol" back in 1971. My brother and I watched this very special piece during that time as kids, and about 6 months later the lithium  shooters finally kicked in and relieved us of the rather haunting and impressionable images. (No kidding, we were warped for a long time! lol! )

Granted, this piece is aged and is nothing compared to the trauma kids see on tv today, but still this is a fabulous piece of storytelling in the best of artistic sense. Take note of the voiceover talent, and the heavily rendered backgrounds.

The two drawbacks? It's way too short (less than 30 minutes) and the screen is small and is hard to see all of the wonderful background pencil work.

However, it's still worth the watch ( here ) and read the making here.

Merry Christmas!

Steve

I want one.

Ever since I was a kid, I've always wanted one of these.

This looks like a ton of fun, but for a ton of cash I am sure you can have one.

TV spot and Stanleyart

My friend, Jamison P. Reigle sent this YouTube.com url over to check out.  It's a tv news story about Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, and Brad P. Meltzer's latest book, "The Book of Lies".
Plus, hold the applause, (ok, I will) it features a nano-second appearance of the piece I threw into the Siegel Shuster Society auction. Hey, it's appreciated. Help this lowly artist.

Check it out if you have a minute.
